SEYLEEs fortlau­fendes Projekt mit dem Titel "arrange and rearrange study" ist eine formale Unter­su­chung zur Dekon­struk­tion und Neukon­fi­gu­ra­tion von Formen und Struk­turen, die bisher inner­halb einer Logik geome­tri­scher Regeln entwi­ckelt wurde.

Dieses Mal jedoch liegt der Ausgangs­punkt in einer visuellen Sprache, die deutlich impul­siver und emotio­naler wirkt – Bilder von Sprit­zern, Verläufen, Flecken und Spuren, die spontan wirkende Gesten hervorrufen.

Für SEYLEE jedoch sind diese Bilder nicht einfach Ausdruck von Emotionen. Vielmehr sind sie struk­tu­relle Einheiten, gesam­melt und geordnet, um emotio­nale Gesten zu imitieren. Das Bild mag zwar mit der Illusion des Zufalls beginnen, doch schnell wird es zu einem Schau­platz für Zerglie­de­rung und Neuord­nung. Was zunächst verstreut erscheint, wird durch eine Logik der Ordnung zerteilt und schließ­lich in wieder­holten Anord­nungen zu einer Struktur, die nur die Form einer Emotion vorgibt, umgeformt.

SEYLEE zerlegt die Bilder in hunderte Papier­frag­mente und ordnet diese anschlie­ßend per Hand neu an.

Im Laufe dieses Prozesses verschwindet die spontane Aktion zuneh­mend, zurück bleibt allein das Muster der sich wieder­ho­lenden Anord­nung und monotoner Arbeit. Im vermeint­li­chen „Ausdruck von Emotion“ geht die Emotion selbst verloren und wird ersetzt durch ein präzise konstru­iertes Ordnungssystem.

Diese Ausstel­lung stellt den explo­siven Charakter der Empfin­dung neben die Präzi­sion der Struktur und erforscht dabei die Spannung und das Gleich­ge­wicht zwischen beiden Polen.
Split. Split. Splash. Split.
Dies ist zugleich eine Geste und eine Arbeits­me­thode. Ein Akt der Dekon­struk­tion eines emotional wirkenden Bildes und des Neuauf­baus einer neuen Struktur aus dessen Fragmenten.

SEYLEE’s ongoing project, titled arrange and rearrange study, is a formal inves­ti­ga­tion into the disas­sembly and recon­fi­gu­ra­tion of shape and struc­ture, previously developed within the logic of geome­tric rules.

This time, however, the starting point lies in a visual language that is far more impul­sive and emotional 'images of splashes, spreads, stains, and traces that evoke a sense of sponta­neous gesture.'

Yet for SEYLEE, these are not mere expres­sions of emotion. They are struc­tural units 'collected and composed' made to resemble emotional gestures. The image may begin with the illusion of chance, but it soon becomes a site for fragmen­ta­tion and reorde­ring. What appears scattered is dissected with a logic of order, then reorga­nized into a struc­ture that mimics the form of feeling.

SEYLEE dissects images into hundreds of paper fragments, and manually reassem­bles them, piece by piece.

Sponta­neous action gradu­ally disap­pears in this process, leaving only the pattern of repeti­tive arran­ge­ment and monoto­nous labor. In what appears to be an ‘expres­sion of emotion,’ emotion itself is lost — replaced by a meticu­lously designed system.

This exhibi­tion places the explo­sion of sensa­tion beside the precision of struc­ture, and explores the tension and balance in between.

It is a gesture, and also a working method. It is the act of dismant­ling an image of emotion, and using its remains to construct a new structure.
